TechWeek Trainer Spotlight #3 - Billy Whited

Jul 21, 2011

You want to create websites and mobile apps that are visually pleasing, readable and effective, but how do you begin to navigate the sea of typefaces from which to choose? Billy Whited leads a highly informative workshop during TechWeek on Saturday, July 23 from 5 - 6 pm that gives you the knowledge you need to make the right decisions.

Billy is User Experience Craftsman at 8th Light, and he's leading a session titled "Web Typography: On Choosing (and Using) Fonts on Screen."  There are thousands of typefaces, but many can harm the usability, readability and accessibility of your websites and applications. Billy will explain how to choose typefaces that are brand- and screen-appropriate, and he'll guide you in making intelligent type-related design decisions for the web.

At 8th Light, Billy manages design, front-end development and content strategy for clients. He holds an undergraduate degree in Fine Art from Wabash College and a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Tufts University, so he's got an artistic background that blends with his technical knowledge to make him uniquely qualified to address this subject. In other words, he knows his stuff.

In his free time, Billy likes to read, make soap, build model airplanes, and hike with his wife Aemelia and his scruffy little dog, George.

Log in and sign up now for Billy's TechWeek training at the Merchandise Mart on Saturday, July 23 at 5 pm.
