It's Startup Weekend time again in Chicago, and this year, it's more exciting than ever because it's held in conjuction with TechWeek, and the top finishers will continue on to the SPARK incubation process.
Like last year, Obtiva is involved in Startup Weekend Chicago a team of Obtiva developers will be volunteering as technical advisors, helping partipants with development work as they build out their web applications.
Startup Weekend organizers anticipate about 60 participants taking part in the 54-hour competition this year. On Friday evening, attendees gather to pitch ideas, solidify concepts, break out into teams, and create business plans. Then work begins in earnest, with in-depth discussions, strategizing, planning and coding, and it continues through Sunday evening when each company presents its concept to a panel of judges. First, second and third place winners are declared, with judges basing their decisions on the broadness and attainability of the market, sustainability of the plan, viability of the business model and growth potential.
The top three teams then move on to three days of intense SPARK incubation July 25 - 27. They'll work on site with Obtiva, Doejo and Pathfinder to further enhance and modify their businesses.
